My Review: 

Teagan is Van's sister (from Love Next Door) and finds herself needing to branch out after she discovers that her dad's girlfriend is moving in. She heads out to visit brother Van and stay in his loft apartment at her Aunt Bee's property (that Van now owns). Once she arrives, she startles Aaron who is working on the flooring in said apartment.

These two start off rocky, he's grumpy, she's a bit insecure. They quickly merge from their attraction and frustration with each other to a relationships. He has secrets, and she has too many jobs (and can't say no), but these two make it work in the end!

Wondering what will happen with the youngest brother who's currently in prison for trying to steal the family fortune.

She crooks a finger, beckoning me closer. But there’s only six inches separating us. If I take a step forward, my boots will touch her toes. So I bend instead, until my ear is next to her lips, like I’m waiting for her to tell me a secret.
For a moment I consider the fact that I’ve been up and down the stairs to the loft at least a dozen times. The only air circulation in here is from a portable fan, so I’ve been sweating and shirtless for several hours. I might not smell all that fresh.
But that thought disappears when her fingertips drag along my collarbone and I feel the warmth of her breath at the edge of my jaw.
“Aaron.”
Her palm wraps around the back of my neck. So soft. So warm.
I swallow and grind out, “I’m listening.”
Her thumb finds that spot between my ear and my jaw, and she presses, gently at first and then more firmly. Her lips brush the shell of my ear, and she whispers, “Look at me.”
I feel like a marionette, and she’s pulling all my strings. I turn my head toward her, and her lips brush across my cheek, sending a hot shiver down my spine, lighting me up like a pinball machine.

My Review

I wasn't sure what to think and was a bit thrown off by the timeline, but soon recalled why I loved Nicole's character so much!

She's brash, outgoing, and constantly surprises people and now I know why. Her story frame her character, and allows for both Nicole and Damien to be seen in a new light.

Having read the other books in the Bad Luck Club series, this was a prequel and sets up the back story of major characters, and almost wish this had been the first book released!

“This is the problem with you, Gary,” I say, warming to the topic. “You let other people impose limitations on you. You need to free your mind, Damien’s friend.”

Gary opens and closes his mouth a few times, like a fish marooned on shore, and then takes a long sip of his tea. From the way he grimaces, it tastes about as good as it smells, like a licorice candy that’s spent years in someone’s junk drawer.

He fires a look at Damien. “Remember what I said to you.”

Damien gives a nod. “I remember. Doesn’t mean I agree.”

“You’re obviously talking about me,” I say, annoyed. “You could at least be subtle about it. What have I ever done to you, Gary? Is this about the pretzel Goldfish? Because I won’t bend on that. They’re an abomination.”

Gary gives me a wary look. “You’re a loose cannon.”

“What is this? The Revolutionary War?”

“It’s a common phrase,” he says, doubling down. He adjusts the hideous wire-rimmed glasses.

“Do you need those glasses? What are your thoughts on contact lenses?”

“You’re changing the subject.”

I give a haughty sniff. “I don’t feel like talking about the Revolutionary War.”

Gary practically growls, turning to look at Damien. “She’s impossible.”

Damien smiles a little, amused. “That’s why I like her. Now”—he casts a sideways glance at me, his mouth lifting a little higher, before shifting his gaze back to Gary—“what are your thoughts on contact lenses?”

“Screw you,” Gary says, but he looks a little amused at least. That’s Damien for you. He has a weird ability to charm people, and he doesn’t even seem to be fully aware of it.

I dart a glance at him.

Nah, he knows.

“I’m going to make this happen for you,” I tell Gary. “Mark my words. What you do with the date is up to you, but I’m going to get it lined up for you. So long as you get contact lenses and cut your hair. Are you open to cutting your hair? My mom is a hairdresser. She’ll do it for you.”

He sighs, and for a second, I think he’s going to make more comments about loose cannons and the comparative non- craziness of Damien’s ex-girlfriend, but instead he just nods.

Excitement sparks through me. “You are not going to regret this, Gary.”

“I already do. I’m more regret than person at this point, really.”

My Review

I adored this one! Although it had a typical "stranded / one bed" trope, the hate/love was hilarious! These two had such a history, and it seems like everyone knew that they were destined to be together but them. As you would expect, they fight, they have passion, they have an "oops" and he screws up. While trying to win her back, he goes deep and will make even the most cynical person swoon. The ending to this book was just *chef's kiss*

 Ellie is the daughter of Mia and Lucas from Frenched, and Gianni is the son of Coco and Nick from Forked. If you haven't read these earlier releases by this author - you must. Stop everything and go back now! These are the ones that made me an early fan!

I sat at the foot of the bed and dialed Winnie’s number. She picked up immediately.
“Ellie?”
“Hey.”
“Thank God! You guys okay?”
“We’re fine.” I watched Gianni unwrap a candy bar and lean back against the headboard. “We found a motel with a vacancy.”
“You mean you’re staying in a motel room together?” she asked, loud enough for Gianni to overhear.
“Yeah. And there’s only one bed.”
She laughed. “How’s that going?”
“Fine.”
“You guys are getting along?”
Gianni made a lewd gesture involving his fist, his tongue, and his inner cheek. I gave him the finger. “As well you’d expect.”
“I can’t wait to hear about it.”
“We’re going to try to get out of here as soon as we can in the morning. I’ll let you know when we’re on the road.”
“Sounds good.” She laughed again. “Sleep tight.”
“Oh. We will.” I eyed the length of the bed. “We have no choice.”
After ending the call, I opened the Truth or Drink app on my phone and picked up my wine. “Ready to play?”
“Hit me.”
I scrolled through the options. “Do you want to play normal mode, party mode, or dirty mode?
Gianni looked at me like I was crazy. “Duh.”
I sighed and reached for my wine. “Okay, fine. I feel like I’m going to regret this, but dirty it is.”
“Can I take my pants off?”
“No. What’s your age range for a one night-stand?”
“Hmm.” Gianni thought for a moment.
“Please say at least eighteen.”
“No teenagers. I’ll say twenty to forty-five.”
“Forty-five? Really?”
He shrugged. “I think mature women are hot. But I can’t go near fifty because that’s my mom’s age and then it would be weird.”
“Right.”
“So what about you? Same question.”
“I’d have to say . . . thirty to forty.”
He looked offended. “Why thirty? You’re only twenty-three.”
And so was he, which was why I’d said it. “I know, but I think older men are just better in bed.” (I’d actually never been with anyone over twenty-eight.)
“In what way?”
“Just . . . more patient. More knowledgeable. More generous. Guys in their twenties think they’re all that just because they have younger bodies, especially if they’re—you know—well-endowed. But it’s not just the size of the boat. It’s definitely the motion of the ocean.”
He harrumphed. “You’ve been in the wrong boats.”
