Seduce the teacher.
Meet the cousin.
Make a deal.
Steal the painting.
Andrea Anderson has no clue of the
thoughts churning around in the dark and dangerous ex-con’s head as he enters
her classroom. In fact, she’s momentarily lost for words. Not in her entire teaching
career has she had a student who looked quite like Stu Cross.
A widow at just twenty-eight, love is
something Andie hasn’t considered a part of her life for a very long time.
However, when lingering touches turn to whispered words and hot, searching
stares, she begins to wonder if maybe she should take a leap of faith.
But Stu is in her class for a reason,
and it has nothing to do with love. He’s there to burrow his way into her life
and repay a debt, otherwise his family will suffer. Andie is the first person
to show him true kindness since he left prison, and though he doesn’t want to
mislead her, he doesn’t have another choice.
Before long, Stu can’t tell whether or
not he’s acting anymore, and his feelings for Andie could throw all of his carefully
crafted plans into complete and utter disarray.
**Can be read as a stand alone.
My Review: 4.5 Stars
Andrea has had it rough -- losing her husband at just 24, she’s
living with her cousin and struggling to make ends meet. She’s trying her best
to pay her deceased husband’s medical bills on her meager teacher’s salary, and
just barely keeping her head above water. If only there was a way to come out
from under the mounds of debt…
Enter Stu. STU! He’s the broody brother that went away to
prison and stepped up to take the rap for his family. Mostly, he did it so that
his brother Lee didn’t go away, and
could continue his path to living a life crime free. Stu enrolls in Andrea’s adult
education class as a condition of his parole…or does he?
You soon learn that Stu has ulterior motives and he’s in
Andrea’s class for one very specific reason – to get close to her cousin. See,
Stu met up with some bad dudes in prison and now he owes them a debt, and he’s
using Andrea to pay that off. All seems well until his scheme to woo the girl
backfires and he actually develops feelings for her!
So – plot twists, sexy times, a few OMG – “What the WHAT?” moments.
This may be my favorite book in the Hearts series. All the other Hearts
characters are there, and you get snippets of the Cross family and their women.
This is part of a series, but can absolutely be read as a
stand-alone without any confusion. But why would you miss this great series? Go
get the bunch of them and binge, binge, binge!
There is one more book left in this series, and I. Cannot. Wait. for Trevor's story!
