If you've been around a while, then you know I love this series. I've been reading and anticipate each new release, and thus far, have not been disappointed.
There is so much I want to say about this book and so much I won't say...so that I won't give away a single thing for fans.
Here's what I can tell you. When we last saw Charley, she was outside a diner with no memory of who she is, where she's from, or any other detail about her life. The Dirt on Ninth picks up one month after her appearance, and Janey Doerr ("because Jane Doe was so last week") is working as a waitress in the Diner, surrounded by her new friends and regular customers. She can still see dead people, but doesn't know why. She still is seeking out truths and finding trouble - because that's just Janey/Charley.
"I was dropped as a baby into a pool of awesomeness and badassery"
You'll recognize the regulars and the reasons they are there in the end.
"I've loved you for a thousand years"
You'll also discover some ties to prior books and revelations that were left as "teasers" in book 8 (and maybe even 7 and 6). While there are always unanswered questions at the end that leave the reader wanting more, I can say this:
it will leave you scratching your head saying "What the WHAT?!"
Another fantastic read, and one that made me love the gang even more.
