Sweet Mercy by KA Tucker writing as Nina West (Review) + Gabriel Fallen (review)

 Sweet Mercy by
(KA Tucker writing as)

 Nina West

From internationally bestselling author K.A. Tucker, writing as Nina West, comes the dark and steamy Dirty Empire trilogy.
One visit to my father in prison—convicted for a murder he didn’t commit—and I’ve attracted the attention of the last man I’d ever want knowing that I exist.
Gabriel Easton.
Son of an infamous crime boss. Deplorable womanizer. Scoundrel to the core.
Worse, he has figured out how desperate I am to protect my father from brutality behind bars. He has the power to grant that protection, and he has offered it … for a price.
Me.
I am to become a “guest” in his mansion, to live with him until he tires of having me around.
I'll do anything for my father, including agree to Gabriel's cruel game. But I won't comply with his every whim and wish.
Not when he taunts me with that ruthless spark in his cold blue eyes.
Not when he requires that I share his bedroom at night.
Unfortunately for me, I think my loathing for him is what he’s enjoying most.
That's fine. By the time I’m through with him, he’ll be crying my name.

My Review:

Really enjoyed this first in the series.
I'm a fan of KA Tucker and this is a bit different than other books that I've read from her.

Mercy is a 25 year old whose father is in jail for accidentally killing a man that was attacking her. As she visits him in prison, she meets Gabriel, who is vising his own father (aka, the area crime boss). While Mercy is intrigued, Gabriel is completely captivated by her and sets out to make her his own. In doing so, he provides access to her dad via special favors with the guards, and in return she has to live with him.

The two circle around each other and engage in some dirty talk, and eventually some action. While not technically a cliffhanger, you can see that there is much more of the story to come.

Currently reading the second in the series:

Gabriel Fallen

3.5 stars.
The story of Gabriel and Mercy continues.

She's still living with him, trying to follow his "contract" for helping her and her father. He's trying to get her to open up more, and starts showing his softer side.

They're both in a place where their hearts are getting more involved, and while Gabriel seems to be certain of their future and what he wants, Mercy is still not convinced. The dance continues, the sexy times increase, and we're left with an explosive ending....that should be resolved in the next book in the series. This one was a bit more subdued than the first, with the passion and storyline, but adds to the depth of these characters.
